A POEM FOR TODAY
HER NAME RHYMES WITH GLORY
I was hoping for her name
Rhymes with glory
To give me a reason to
Come back to visit Brooklyn
Someday like
Here's my love
Take all you need but
Her name rhymes with glory
Said nothing when I
Left town on the greyhound bus
Bound for Ohio
But her sweet late night delicious
Deep kisses day before yesterday
Begged to differ yet weeks later
I get a phone call in my
New home her name rhymes
With glory argued how did we
Ever become friends again anyway
Based on a previous break-up
That we had had
Because I always forgave you
The nonsense that comes with
You I said
She hung up and
I never saw or heard from
Her name rhymes with glory
Again
