SHARING MY WORKSHOP EXPERIENCE

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
On Saturday, 7/26 & Sunday, 7/27. The Poet Outlaw attended a weekend workshop at POETS HOUSE in New York City.

The workshop, PROMPTS FOR POETS was led  by Valerie Fox & Lynn Levin, authors of the book "Poems for the Writing: Prompts for Poets."

During the workshop we explored several of the prompts in their book.

PROMPT - WRITE AN "UNANSWERABLE LETTER" POEM.

MY EFFORT:

dear papa

when they laid you

down to sleep in

that backwoods cemetery

your final resting place

committed your body back

to the dust to the ashes

of the earth

dropped that first shovel

of dark moist soil on

top of you

papa i tell you

they might of well

had covered me up too

WEDDED BLISS IN ARUBA

MR. AND MRS. TAVON J. DUDLEY
PROMPT OF THE DAY: Write a poem describing the characteristics of your ideal mate .

FROM WEDDING DAY TO MOVING DAY

Now that the wedding is done, I've made my way back home to Whitehall, Ohio for a few hours. However, my poem-hunting expedition is not over. After a super-long trip from New York , I'm up north in Toledo this week to help my daughter prepare for her move to California in August. While helping her out, I will hunt for more poems. I will have many places to search. Check this out:
Shoes
Clothes
Other stuff
More shoes
More clothes

More other stuff too
You guessed it. My daughter is addicted to shoes and clothes and other stuff. This move will not be easy.
------------------------------------------------PROMPT OF THE DAY: Write a poem describing how it feels to be overwhelmed with a responsibility to something or someone.

WEDDING DAY

My oldest son tied the knot at Queens Botanical Gardens on Friday, May 30th. This was a memorable event in more ways than one. Check out my documentary of the occasion:
The Poet dressed for the affair
Chilling in the limo
Drinks for everyone
Father of the groom
Waiting for his bride to arrive
The bride's maids
The ushers at the altar
I do
You may kiss your bride
The reception took place in THE CHART HOUSE, in Weehawken, New Jersey,  on the beautiful shoreline of the Hudson River.

Cutting the cake
Sharing the bridal cake.

LIVE BLOG

The Poet is on location in Barnes and Nobles,  downtown Brooklyn.  I'm here buying a copy of "JIMMY'S BLUES," the poetry of James Baldwin.

IF YOU WANT TO WRITE POETRY, YOU MUST READ POETRY.
PROMPT FOR TODAY: Write a poem describing your favorite poem and/or poet explaining why you chose them.

LOOK WHAT I FOUND!

While walking down Broadway, where an elevated train line rolls from Brooklyn to Queens. I found LONE WOLF in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn. Hey! That's me. Okay, in this case it's a pub, but we share the same name. Lone Wolf is my alter-ego.

TODAY'S PROMPT: Write a poem which explains your alter-ego and the effect it has on your actions/interactions.
